I won't participate in the 2017 Regional Head Election

The House or Representative (DPR) has finally ratified the Law of Regional Head Election today or Friday (9/26). One of the points that was approved is the upcoming regional head will be selected through Legislative Council (DPRD), instead of people. Responding this matter, Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama asserted he will not promote himself anymore in the upcoming 2017 Regional Election.

"I won't participate in the 2017 Regional Head Election," asserted Ahok, at City Hall, Friday (9/26).

He hopes, in future, there would be a rule of wealth evidence clause belongs to DPRD members until inspection on department's financial trip. If it is not in accordance with the salary earned each month, DORD members' wealth will be impounded.

"It is compliance with Law No. 7/2006, but this is not easy. How else would? This is democracy. I don't want to bother on this," he expressed.

He also acknowledged he would not file any demands against such law. He prefers to leave this matter to the Regency Administrations Association (Apkasi) and the Indonesia City Administration Association (Apeksi) which plan to file a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court regarding the election law. But he will concentrate on developing the city.

"I was just thinking, where I want to do my best for Jakarta in the rest of the time my tenure. If I ignore it, all will fall apart, I do not want it," he said.

He committed he would continue to fix the one-stop integrated service (PTSP), rail-based infrastructure development, flood handling, transportation improvement and application in the system for performance-based civil servants remuneration.
